Memorial Day weekend traditionally marks the start of the busy boating and summer travel season. The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is encouraging safe boating practices and reminding the public of the dangers of operating a water vessel while impaired.  

On the Road, On the Water, Don’t Drink and Drive is a public safety campaign aimed at reducing alcohol and drug-related incidents on the roadways and waterways.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) and its partners are participating in National Fishing and Boating Week, held the first week of June each year, with events being held throughout North Carolina.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is accepting public comments through November 3, 2025 for No-Wake Zone Caldwell & Davidson Counties Proposed Rules. A virtual public hearing on the proposed changes is scheduled for September 30, 2025.

In efforts to ensure a safer July 4 holiday experience on the water, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) Law Enforcement Division officers will participate in Operation Dry Water, a national campaign being observed July 4-6, developed through the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the U.S. Coast Guard. 

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is completing construction of a new boating access area at Draper Landing in Eden, Rockingham County. The project is expected to be completed by Nov. 1.

“This will be a great addition to our rivers and provide a great opportunity for the citizens and visitors to get outdoors,” said Eden Parks & Recreation Director Ray Thomas.
