Proposed Regulations
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has the authority, granted by the Legislature, to create regulations called “rules” which although not state law, have the force of law. Below is a list of the rules the Commission is currently proposing to change, a description of each, and ways to submit your comments. We welcome your feedback.
Note: While the Commission fully considers all comments received, the public comment process is not a vote, and the Commission is not required to modify proposals in response to comments. The number of public comments submitted in support or opposition of a rule does not dictate the outcome. Particularly helpful public comments are often those that simply provide good reasoning and evidence or a perspective that the Commission had not previously considered.

Subjecting a Proposed Rule to Legislative Review
Written objections to proposed rules can be submitted to the Rules Review Commission. If the Rules Review Commission receives written and signed objections from 10 or more individuals clearly requesting review by the legislature and the Rules Review Commission approves the rule, the rule will become effective as provided in G.S.150B-21.3(b1). The Rules Review Commission will receive written objections until 5:00 p.m. on the day following the day the Rules Review Commission approves the rule. The Rules Review Commission will receive those objections by mail, delivery service, hand delivery, or facsimile transmission.

As part of the Annual Cycle Rulemaking Process, the Commission considers suggestions and recommendations from NCWRC staff and the public. If you have a suggestion or recommendation you would like to be considered, please submit them here.
