Scientific Name: Stereochilus marginatus

The many-lined salamander is a small, slender species with a narrow head, short tail, and a dull yellow to brown back. Its yellow belly is marked with a few dark spots, and they may have faint dark lines or spots run along its sides. It inhabits woodland ponds, swamps, ditches, and slow-moving streams across North Carolina's Coastal Plain. While both larvae and adults feed on invertebrates, their diets differ, with adults eating larger prey and occasionally foraging on land.
