Free Introductory Outdoor Skills Event for Women

Raleigh, N.C.
May 12, 2026

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is holding a day-long Outdoor Skills Academy for Women Sampler event on May 30 at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville.

“We want to give participants a chance to explore a variety of topics in hunting, angling, conservation and the shooting sports,” said Western Engagement & Education Supervisor Casey Williams. “Our goal is to spark their interest, so they’ll be inspired to dive deeper and join us for our weekend long Outdoor Skills Academy in October."

This sampler event runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pe-registration is required.

The four sessions that will be offered include:

  • Introduction to Birding and Habitat Improvements
  • Fishing Basics and Techniques
  • Introduction to Archery
  • Introduction to Deer Hunting

No prior experience is required for any of the sessions and all materials and equipment will be provided at the event, unless noted. Lunch will also be included.

NCWRC is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment. For more information, please contact womensoutdoorskillsacademy@ncwildlife.gov.
