The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission invites the public to attend a public input meeting at 7pm on June 18, 2025 at the Southport Community Building in Southport NC. Public comment will be heard on the proposed establishment of an "Archery Zone" on a recently acquired 426 acre parcel that will be part of Green Swamp Game Land.
The parcel is directly adjacent to the Swain Tract of Green Swamp Game Land which is currently managed as an Archery Zone and both tracts are directly adjacent to the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point. Per 15A NCAC 10D .0102 (b)(1), establishment of an Archery Zone requires the Commission to “conduct a public input meeting in the area where the game land is located”. On portions of game lands posted as "Archery Zones" hunting is limited to archery equipment and falconry. During the open deer seasons for these areas, antlered and antlerless deer may be taken.
The meeting will be held at 7pm on June 18, 2025 at the Southport Community Building, 223 E Bay St, Southport NC 28461.
