Community Fishing Program

Some of the state's best fishing for channel catfish can be found at any of the 40+ lakes (and one stream) across North Carolina that have been designated Community Fishing Program sites.

Tackle Loaner Program

The Tackle Loaner Program is here for you! The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has teamed up with various cities, counties, state parks and other organizations so that North Carolinians (and visitors) may borrow rods, reels and other fishing gear free of charge.

Mountain Heritage Trout Waters Program

The Mountain Heritage Trout Waters program is a cooperative effort between the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and local governments to encourage trout fishing as a heritage tourism activity in western North Carolina cities that are designated as a “Mountain Heritage Trout Water City.”
